Newport Beach, CA
UHBP was pleased to receive a generous gift in support of the “Take a Breath, Seth!” initiative on Wednesday, December 18, 2024.

Friends and supporters gathered at Corona del Mar High School to celebrate the upcoming release of the children’s book “Take a Breath, Seth!” written by Maile Lyle, Irelyn Quick and Finley Jackson.
Junior Global Ambassadors Maile and Irelyn spearheaded the book project in order to raise awareness about the dangers of prolonged underwater breath-holding.

In this recognition ceremony, Executive Director Britt Jackson awarded UHBP Challenge Coins to Maile, Irelyn, Finley, and donor (victim Father) Raphael Metzger.

Mr. Metzger presented the students a check for $25,000 in support of the “Take a Breath, Seth!” initiative, who received the gift on behalf of the UHBP Foundation.

This generous gift was given in honor of his late daughter, Madelyn Meztger, who tragically passed away after succumbing to an underwater hypoxic blackout in 2022.
In a twist of fate, the event date landed on Madelyn’s birthday. Everyone enjoyed celebrating her beautiful life and the group observed a moment of silence in her honor.
Our deepest gratitude goes to Mr. Metzger for this generous gift, lives will be saved!
The children’s book, “Take a Breath, Seth!” is available for preorder now!
Please consider sponsoring a classroom, school, or group of children to receive the book.
For every child who is given a book, a household will be reached with the message, “Don’t Hold Your Breath!”
